Foot acupuncture

[Subterm of Acupuncture]

Foot acupuncture is a type of acupuncture wherein acupuncture points are utilized that are located outside the main meridians. The dorsal, plantar, medial and lateral locations of the foot have acupuncture points that are associated with many anatomical areas and organs of the body. The objective of foot acupuncture is to regulate such specific corresponding organs and body functions. This type of acupuncture is different from classic acupuncture in that it is not specifically aimed at the general energy state and balance of the body. Both types of acupuncture (classic meridian acupuncture and foot acupuncture) may be combined to accomplish synergy of healing effect.
